1. What were you doing before joining Peace Boat?

I taught Spanish online, mostly one-on-one sessions with adults, for 2 years before joining the 117th voyage.

2. How did you find out about Peace Boat or the GET programme, and why did you come on board?

I found out about the GET programme on a job website for Spanish teachers. The first time I saw it, I couldn’t apply, but a couple of years later, when I was available, I didn’t think twice about it.

3. What did you enjoy most about being a GET Teacher?

Honestly the whole experience, if I have to specify, it would be the opportunity to have new experiences and learn new things.

4. How did you spend your time on board? Did you organize any events, and if so, what were they?

On board I went to a lot of events, there were always activities planned about very different topics. I organized 2 events, one about Sapho and another about Religion in ancient Egypt.

5. What was your favorite on board event or encounter?

Maybe it’s not exactly an event but seeing the Alaska Fjords from the cruise, it was one of the most beautiful landscapes that I have ever seen. It was wonderful.

6. What was your favorite port and what did you do there?

It’s complicated to choose, but one of my favorite ports was Namibia. I climbed a dune, and it was a completely unexpected experience.

7. What did you gain from your time with Peace Boat?

I gained incredible experiences both in the ports and on the ship, and I also met amazing people.

8. Where are you now and what do you do?

I returned to Spain, and for now, I’m teaching Spanish online again.

9. What advice would you give to future teachers?

Try all the things that the cruise will offer you.

10. What advice can you give to a student who wants to improve their English/Español?

On the cruise, there will be a lot of people who also want to improve their second language, so the best way to do it it’s speaking with them in English/español.

11. Do you have a message for your students?

I really enjoyed teaching them; I admire their effort and dedication. I hope they continue learning Spanish!

Thank you, Caro!!
