About GET

What is GET?

GET (Global English/Español Training) offers practical English and Spanish instruction for groups and individuals. Approximately 80% of the 2 billion people using English worldwide are non-native speakers, so our teaching model prioritizes an international understanding of the English language (known as Global English) which prepares a student to communicate anywhere in the English-speaking world. Global English connects different cultures, communities and countries, and can be used to communicate regardless of whether or not someone is a native or non-native speaker.

GET and Peace Boat

Peace Boat’s onboard language programme, GET (Global English/Español Training), is a communication-based programme that aims to improve students’ confidence and communicative ability in English and/or Spanish through a dynamic combination of onboard、task-based classwork, language-based events and activities, and exchange programmes in ports of call. Through GET, Peace Boat participants can acquire the necessary language skills to make their voyage as memorable and meaningful as possible. For teachers, the programme offers the opportunity to work with a great deal of autonomy, using their creativity both in and out of the classroom while enjoying the unique experience that is Peace Boat.

Why study Global English?

In today’s increasingly international society, English has become an indispensable tool. With approximately 1 billion English speakers in Asia and almost 2 billion worldwide, the ability to communicate in English can help you make new friends, travel abroad, achieve success in business and academics, and discover a world of enjoyment and opportunity. 

In Japan, millions of people take the TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) exam each year, yet high scores don’t translate to communication ability. Many students continue to think that they aren’t confident in their pronunciation, fear making mistakes, or have the impossible goal of absolute fluency. 

Learning Global English will allow you communicate with people all over the world and experience true cross-cultural exchange while using Global English with confidence.
